CONVERSATIONS WITH SRI SRI THAKUR: DEEPA-RAKSHI: FEB. 23, 1955; PART 3; DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LORD AND GOD; “LOVE, DO, BE AND HAVE”

Q., “How does Your Honor differentiate between ‘Lord’ and ‘God’?

Sri Sri Thakur, “We call the Lord an Incarnation of God. Christians call Him ‘Son of God’. These Personalities are the living altars of God in this world. They are the Lords. We should be regardful to Them. There is regard in every human being. As one is regardful, so one becomes. (After a while) There are some points to be observed: love, do, be and have. And to be is to have.”

Q., “In modern times people are extremely busy to meet their material needs. How can they afford the time for this ‘be’ and ‘have’?”

Sri Sri Thakur, “Try to find out the cause of a person’s running after material gain. You may think of its bad side. A person steals paddy from somebody’s field, commits robbery. But why? All this is for existence. If you judge him on how he maintains his existence, you will not be able to correct him. Chaos will then result. If you are to correct a person, you are to judge him on the point of being. Tell him compassionately, ‘You live, you grow. Let others live also.’ Thus let people applaud you greatly. We feel enjoyment in this. Everyone of us wants to live and grow. When we with our environment want to go forward in the way of becoming, then comes our expansiveness. But when we want to proceed, leaving the being aside, downfall approaches. We should be cautious so that even a child does not go towards destruction. This is the indication of how much I have been able to develop myself, how much I have grown.”

Pointing at somebody’s clothes Sri Sri Thakur again spoke, “Why do we put on shirts and coats in this way? The first reason is to stop the cold and the second is to attract people. We have an innate urge to be known by people. With these clothes when I go by car or call a cooly, he comes to me with folded hands and shows me respect. We want that respect because we want our expansion, our becoming. That’s why we put on our shirts and coats in that way. Isn’t that right?”

Now it was 10:30 AM. Those gentlemen asked for permission to go.

Sri Sri Thakur said smilingly, “You want to go now. To me it is like breaking away from the company of the drunkards.”

Everyone was very much delighted to hear these words of Sri Sri Thakur. Then they took leave. Sri Sri Thakur looked at them for some time and then said, “What did I tell them? ‘Hear the message of Thakur, accept Him. See Him and follow Him. Thus be and have and that will take you across ignorance.’ All these are very important points.”

Sri Sri Thakur’s time for taking His bath was coming up. He smoked once and then went to the bathroom.
