CONVERSATIONS WITH SRI SRI THAKUR: PRATUL-DIPTI (BY SRI MANILAL CHAKRABORTY): FRIDAY, AUGUST 11, 1961: PART 2: LOVE, FAITH, ADHERENCE, ACTIVE SERVICE, PAINSTAKING ATTITUDE ETC.

Satyada (Dey) with some Satsangee brothers from Madras asked Sri Sri Thakur, “Can everything be obtained from love?”

Sri Sri Thakur, “Love being condensed, results in faith. Faith being condensed, causes adherence. As soon as there is adherence, allegiance follows. Allegiance is followed by active service. As soon as active service comes one cannot but proceed in time. Then painstaking attitude comes. For example, unboiled milk, boiled milk, condensed milk. The condensed milk is the final result of the unboiled milk. One can mold one’s thoughts provided one becomes concentric. He is able to understand his defects and cannot help but adjust them. Then only keen and correct observation follows. Continued thoughts surely exist in keen observation. Through this everything comes, i.e. to be, to see, to speak, to act. In this way love is condensed.

When love is condensed, then if the Love Lord strikes and and drives him away, still he does not move an inch. He always remains ready for the Lord under all conditions. His only wish is to live for Him and he gets satisfaction by serving Him. As a widowed mother says, ‘I must live for my children. Otherwise what will be their condition? How will they exist?’ Such is the case with a true follower of the Love Lord.

We invoke the urge of existence and protection. The root of the word ‘God’ is ‘hu’ which means ‘to invoke’ ‘to call’. That Godhood, the urge of existence and protection is in everybody. That vibration of life is imbedded in Me. We shall invoke Him more and more. We shall imbibe Him in the deepest core of our heart. No matter how many ‘isms’ there may be, there is no greater ‘ism’ than existentialism. When you speak of communism or any other ‘ism’ still the root remains to invoke the urge of existence and protection. Existentialism means that ‘ism’ which supplies the substance of life. We wish to live eternally with the memory of this life.”

Then Sri Sri Thakur, looking towards Satyada, said, “Through your adherence mastery of all these things comes about. That is the stay of life.”

Satyada, “Does the rational mind also come from adherence?”

Sri Sri Thakur, “Yes, otherwise I shall have nothing to live for.”

Sri Sri Thakur once more smoked His hookah. Everyone was absorbed in His words. Sometimes there was silence. Then He said to Hemchandra Tewari from Jhaja, “Hey! Listen! With devotion there is valor. You must procure some lion type devotees. The more, the better.”

Hemda, “Yes, I shall try. (After a while) I have something to say to you.”

Sri Sri Thakur, “Speak.”

Hemda, “Thakur, why do we give tulsi leaves to the Lord along with the food offered?”

Sri Sri Thakur, “The food is made pure by offering Tulsi. Tulsi destroys many germs in the food. It is an antiseptic. It is good to include tulsi with everything we eat.”

Hemda, “Can we eat the food offered for Lord Narayan?”

Sri Sri Thakur, “Why not? ‘Narayan’ means ‘the way of becoming’. But while I worship Narayan if I slaughter a goat, then it will not be true worship.” (To be continued)
