CONVERSATIONS WITH SRI SRI THAKUR: DEEPA-RAKSHI: FEB. 23, 1955; PART 2; STATE AND SOCIALISM
After that conversation started on state and socialism.
Sri Sri Thakur said, “I think socialism depends on individualism. To build a good society, first you have to built up the individual. The individual is the unit of a society. To make the family adjusted you have to adjust its individual. If a family remains unadjusted, the society also will be far from being adjusted. If the society remains unadjusted, how can a state be adjusted! I am part and parcel of my family, my society and my state.”
Question, “Dharma can bring that consciousness.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “The factor of Dharma is being and becoming. We shall be inter-interested with each and everyone of the universe. Are are to adjust our activities in such a way as to elevate the being and becoming of all.”
Q., “There are so many political parties in this country. Is it good for the country?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “So many parties indicate that one’s ideal is different from another. And when the Ideal is different, conflict remains there invariably. The root cause of all this is ignorance.”
Q., “Then everything can be set right by removing the ignorance.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Very true. And proper Ideal-centric go is necessary to achieve that goal.”
Q., “Then the parties should be dissolved by law?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Parties cannot be dissolved by law, but become dissolved if people move on proper Ideal-centric go. In the Vedas also we find the indication to build a uni-centric society. Equitableness prevailed there, not equality. (After thinking a while) We are not doing what is necessary. So everything is disordered and unsystematic.”
Q., “What is the way to drive away division among the existing parties?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Lord Krishna has said in the Gita, ‘Keep your mind on Me. Be my devotee. Preach Me. Bow down to Me. Serve Me. Be inclined to Me.’ If you call some personality Thakur, hear about Him from His devotees, accept Him, see Him, follow Him. Thus be and have, and that will take you across ignorance. All the rules and regulations should be framed in this way so that it may accelerate the being and becoming of all. But if the regulation is only an instrument of the party and a means to punish people, that is not good. So I think, Dharma should be defined as that ‘which upholds the being and becoming of the self as well as the environment.’
K. P. Bhattacharya, “The laws of Dharma are the real laws of existence.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “And there lies the root of socialism. For this we are to keep the company of the Lord. We can not realize God without the Lord.” (To be continued)
