SEPTEMBER 5TH 1947, PART 7:"I SAY—LET EVERY PROVINCE EXIST FOR EVERY
OTHER, LET EVERY INDIVIDUAL BEFRIEND EVERY OTHER." THE MORE DHARMA,
CULTRE AND THE IDEAL WILL BE PROPAGATED, THE MORE WILL PEOPLE BEFRIEND
ONE ANOTHER. THEY WILL BE ACCUSTOMED TO CONSIDER OTHERS’ INTEREST AS
THEIR OWN.” “SO TO DO GOOD TO THE NATION, WE HAVE TO DO SUCH THINGS AS
ARE LIKELY TO PRODUCE A TIDAL FLOW OF LOVE FOR GOD AMONG PEOPLE.”
The topic veered around the problem of provincialism.
Sri Sri Thakur, “If we indulge in the foolish experiment of provincialism, everything will be finished. If the people of every province begin to drive away the people of another province, then how can Hindustan exist? Rather it is profitable to foster a keen sense of sympathy and responsibility in the Hindus for all other Hindus, so that the people may accept those of another province as their own brothers. If the Hindus learn to love Hindus, they will feel prompted to love people of other communities also. Charity begins at home. Ultimately everyone will be imperiled if instead of promoting mutual concord discord is sought to be created among people. I say—let every province exist for every other, let every individual befriend every other. Then all will profit by it.
“People can never do without other people. The more Dharma, culture and the Ideal will be propagated, the more will people befriend one another. They will be accustomed to consider others’ interest as their own. If such a state of things does not come up, it is to be presumed that Dharma has not yet been awakened. If Dharma is roused, everything else will sprout along with it. So, Dharma has to be disseminated extensively with emphasis on tremendous initiation work. I say—do this and bestow peace on people. Let people realize what Dharma is and what leads to peace. Like foolish people we do not understand the implication of what a we do.
“Another point. Every province should remain equipped with all resources and people to come to the aid of neighboring states in their terrorizing emergency. It gives rise to enormous strength. Danger cannot destroy anyone. The more we shall discard mutuality the more shall we invite ruin. The more our love for God dwindles, the more do we come to love annihilation. So to do good to the nation, we have to do such things as are likely to produce a tidal flow of love for God among people.”
Quite a long time had elapsed since the evening. Now most people left.
