CONVERSATIONS WITH SRI SRI THAKUR: DEEPA-RAKSHI: JUNE 13, 1953; PART 2: LAW; ‘SATYA’ (TRUTH) (TO BE CONTINUED)
Then came the topic of law breaking.
Sri Sri Thakur, “He can break the law who can preserve it correctly.”
Mr. Sahay, “But the police should be informed of a law breaker.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Well, you can do it. But your purpose will be to reform the person.”
Mr. Sahay, “What should be the nature of a law?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Law, whatever kind it may be, must not hamper existence.”
Mr. Sahay asked about the oneness of God.
Sri Sri Thakur, “God is unique. So every person is unique.”
Mr. Hauserman asked about the nature of ‘Satya’ (Truth).
Sri Sri Thakur, “’Satya’ means that which helps us to live and which causes us to exist. ‘Satya’ is that by which a human being lives and grows. And that is good.”
Mr. Hauserman, “Then what is happiness?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Happiness is that which results in good. Happiness lies in goodness. Happiness lies in ‘Satya’.”
Mr. Sahay, “I can’t understand this clearly.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Say, you call somebody an illegitimate son. He will be shocked by that. Everybody will get shocked at it. So that kind of talking is not helpful to being and becoming. What helps our being and becoming is ‘Satya’. Any affair or saying cannot be called ‘Satya’. The very characteristic of ‘Satya’ is ‘Sat’ (existence), ‘Chid’ (wisdom) and ‘Ananda’ (expansion). When all these three are combined it may be called ‘Satya’.”
After a little pause, Mr. Baladeb Sahay asked Mr. Hauserman, “Does Thakur ever speak of His own realization?”
With a smile Sri Sri Thakur said, “I like to hear the incidents of Baladeb Babu’s life. He has tried to save many people’s lives.”
Mr. Sahay, “I know nothing. But many people respect Thakur. I want to learn from Him.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “When I become conscious of Myself, I feel that I know nothing.”
Mr. Sahay, “Yet Your experiences will increase our knowledge.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “It will come out in the course of conversation.” (To be continued)
