CONVERSATIONS WITH SRI SRI THAKUR: PRATUL-DIPTI (BY SRI MANILAL CHAKRABORTY): FRIDAY, JULY 28, 1961: IDLE GRATITUDE; BIRTH OF ONLY DAUGHTERS
Sri Sri Thakur was sitting on the balcony of Thakur Bungalow. Dr. Gokulda (Nandy) came and said, “Father, my daughter’s marriage ceremony was performed smoothly. For me (speaking with folded hands) the brothers of our ashram have done so much that I cannot express it. I am very grateful to them.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “There is no activity in idle gratefulness. You also do for them. Inspire them all with proper meaningful service.”
After a while the members of Dr. Gokulda’s family came to Thakur with the bride and bridegroom.
Sri Sri Thakur (seeing the couple), “Move in such a manner that you are propitiously adjusted.”
After their departure Sri Sri Thakur said, “The son-in-law of Gokul is very nice. The daughter is also nice.
Sailenda, “Yes, they are very nice.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “How many more daughters does Gokul have?”
Sailenda, “Four or five more.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “It is not good to have girls only. There are certain reasons for having only daughters. So in marital relations one must be careful.”
Sailenda, “Gokulda has a son too.”
Maya Mashima, “What is the remedy for those families who have only daughters?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “It is a kind of disease to have only girls. There is a medicine for it which should be used. The daughters of the parents of many daughters should be given in marriage to the families of many sons.”
Nanigopal Chakrabortyda, “What is the reason for having many daughters in a family? Is there any remedy for it?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “The sperm comes from the male. There are both negative and positive sperms. If the negative is prominent a female will be born. Of course, the blood alone is the bloom of the sperm. A spermatic cell contains positive and negative poles. Many times the impulse cannot make the positive prominent. It is good if the positive becomes prominent. There is an Ayurvedic medicine for this. There is a kind of herb called ‘Lakshmana’. It may be found in the Himalayas. I have heard if that herb is taken, then many male children will be produced.”
Rebati Biswasda, “Is the birth of a Prophet accidental? Does His birth depend on His will or is there some scientific reason?”
Sri Sri Thakur, “It is difficult to know the reason. The Prophet alone knows.”
Rebatida, “Society says that the marriage of Joseph and Mary was illegal.”
Sri Sri Thakur, “Deep was the love of Mother Mary for Joseph. They both would carry each other. Society did not accept it. That means a foolish society. Marriage is just a way for the recognition of the society. Of course there are many types of marriage. However, the essence of marriage was nurtured in the case of the parents of Jesus.
(After a while) “I have dictations in both poetry and prose regarding all these matters. It is my thinking that even in My absence people may talk with Me.”
Debida (Mukherjee), “May that day never come!”
